Empowering Farmers through Science and Technology

I am delighted to participate in the Inauguration of the National Virtual Congress of Farmers. I greet the organizers, scientists and farmers in different locations. When I am in the midst of farmers I would like to share with you some of my experiences in the rural areas of different States. Let me first narrate the BAIF model in Gujarat.

I am happy to participate in the Launch of Kidney Care Project of the CARE Foundation. I greet Dr Soma Raju and his team for undertaking this mission. In December 2000 Dr Krishnam Raju invited me for the CSI meeting of the next year. Every time I come to CARE hospitals I am witnessing a transformation in the making. When last month Dr Krishnam Raju briefed me about the plight of people, particularly retired ones, needing dialysis I readily decided to meet all of you and witness the launch of a Noble Mission.

I am delighted to deliver the inaugural lecture of the Saurashtra University. My greetings to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Faculty, students and staff and all the distinguished guests. When I address this audience I realise, you represent over One lakh thirty thousand youth studying in various colleges and institutions of this university. For my address today, I have selected the topic "Evolution of enlightened citizen".
